Movie Mad Review:
I strolled off to my local Cinema the other day as it was my birthday and felt like a treat.
Having seen the trailer for Black Christmas, I thought what a great treat than to watch a bunch of hotties being stalked / tortured in slasher flick! Ace!
Not that I am a bit of a Fred West/Shipman or anything but hey, slasher flicks usually bring hot, stupid naked women....And its my birthday, Bring It On!
First of all, I will tell you what this movie is really about, if you want more in depth than the above.
This is a remake of the 1974 horror movie Black Christmas.
The movie tells the story about Billy, a young boy who was abused by his mother as a child.
While his mother was cheating on Billy's father, whom she eventually kills, she keeps Billy locked in the attic - for good, while she was with her lover and starting a "new" family.
As Billy's mother fell pregnant with a daughter and treated her with love, which Billy had never experienced with his mother, Billy came out of the attic after years and brutally murdered his mother and her lover.
Cut to present day, a group of eight sorority sisters consisting of Kelli (Katie Cassidy), Dana (Lacey Chabert), Lauren (Crystal Lowe), Megan (Jessica Harmon), Claire (Leela Savasta), Heather (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Melissa (Michelle Trachtenberg) and their house mother (Andrea Martin), who now live in Billy's childhood home, find themselves being harassed by threatening and intimidating mystery phone-calls during Christmas Break.
As one of the girls goes missing, the girls begin being murdered one by one by no other than Billy...
There's been a lot of negativity about this film, I never saw the original but i did think this film looked great after watching the trailer.
Basically, this film is pure fun, it won't win any awards but it is enjoyable. It isn't scary but the over the top kills and gore make this film enjoyable to watch.
Sadly the girls aren't as hot as first expected guys, however `Kelli' played by `Katie Cassidy' is blisteringly hot, and fortunately goes the distance in this movie.
The rest are disposed of, which ain't such a bad thing comparing their acting and looks to `Katie Cassidy'.
To be honest all the acting is ok, I'm just being daft.
Overall I'd say, go to this film if you like slasher films but don't go expecting a masterpiece, its good fun and will make you jump in places.
Worth Watching ?
Definately worth watching, but wait for the DVD. Don't expect too much!
Worth Owning on DVD ?
I think so! I will probably watch this movie again, but not for a while!
