Movie Mad Review:
The basic premise of this film is that once upon a time, there were Dragon Riders prtotecting the homeland of Alagaesia, until one of them turned against them all and killed all the dragons. He is now the evil ruler King Galbatorix (John Malkovich).
A young village farm boy, Eragon (Edward Speleers), finds the last dragon's egg whilst hunting, and this discovery leads him on a journey to defend his home against the evil Kings army.
The film also stars Robert Carlyle, Jeremy Irons, and the voice of Rachel Weisz as the dragon Saphira. But despite the fairly good cast, the best performance IS the voice of Rachel Weisz.
Fair enough, this is a fantasy adventure for the younger viewer, but there was nothing original about the characters, and the story was very predictable. There were a few good bits, espcially if you are a young teen, but these were too few.
Worth Watching ?
Only if you're a teen who enjoys fantasy adventure films with no twists in the plot.
Worth Owning on DVD ?
Only if you have younger kids, otherwise i'd avoid the purchase of this release.
