Movie Mad Review:
I decided to watch Hannibal Rising the other week at my local Cinema, being slightly frustrated we wasn't watching the great Anthony Hopkins.
However! Gaspard Ulliel is unleashed to us as the young Hannibal and is mesmerizing in his role!
The movie starts with Mischa and Hannibal (Gaspard Ulliel), baby brother and sister, who are inseparable.
Their companionship is for ever binding, until whilst hiding from the Nazi war machine they are set upon by savages, which include the excellent Rhys Ifans.
Hannibal Lecter escapes and swears vengeance for the brutal killing of his baby sister.
Years later, we find Hannibal, the teenager, setting up in Paris, and living with his aunt Lady Murasaki Shikibu (the incredibly sexy Li Gong) and studying at medical school here he finds his forte.
Still searching for his sister's murderers, still bitter and still ever hopeful of satisfying his desire for retribution.
His chance arrives, and soon we are to learn that for a pound of flesh lost a pound of flesh must be repaid. This is the horrific tale of justice and honour, a young mans growing pains that will have the guilty paying with more than just flesh and bone.
This is the up and rising tale of the young Hannibal, prey you do not meet him, for meat you shall be to him.
I cannot understand how this movie could get average or crap reviews from other sites or magazines.
The story is brilliant, the sets are brilliant, the acting is first class, the cast is fantastic. Everything is spot on. If your after gore, there's bags of it.
There is a love story, war scenes, cannibal scenes, absolutely everything.
This is one particular movie why this site exists to shite on the knobs who pan films like this.
If it ain't got the excellent but boring as fuck Judi dench in it, then lets give it 2 stars.
Well Bollocks to you.
By the way our Web Monkey Mr Janusas is from the same village in Lithuania (Kaunas) as Mr Lecter.
Spooky eh!
Well go and watch this movie and see for yourselves. You can all then spread the word of how well we know our shit!
Worth Watching ?
Definately, this movie is great and tells us exactly how Hannibal became the Cannibal!
Worth Owning on DVD ?
Absolutely, this is a great movie that can be watched again and again.
Our Rating:
4 out of 5.
