Set in the Mayan civilization, when a man's idyllic presence is brutally disrupted by a violent invading force, he is taken on a perilous journey to a world ruled by fear and oppression where a harrowing end awaits him. Through a twist of fate and spurred by the power of his love for his woman and his family he will make a desperate break to return home and to ultimately save his way of life.
A film by the controversial Mel Gibson, who is thankfully not actually in it. So, is it any good?
Absolutely! This film is fantastic! Wonderful breathtaking visuals, great acting by a cast of 'unknowns', entertaining and startling.
Whether you enjoy looking for hidden meanings, or simply to lay back with some beers and watch a great chase movie, you will love this. Although the journey in the middle can feel like a bit of a drag for those that like their pace a little faster, but you will still be blown away by the cinematography.
Worth Watching ?
It's a brilliant film and well worth watching.
Worth Owning on DVD ?
A great addition to any collection especially if in high-definition.
