Movie Mad Review:
Yesterday so our site Web Monkey, the Lithuanian Martynas Janusas drag me to see 300, threatening to create a Sixth Star for our site.

I hadn't been looking forward to this since it looked like too much CGI was involved.

I hate too much CGI.

Well whats it about!

In the Battle of Thermopylae of 480 BC an alliance of Greek city-states fought the invading Persian army in the mountain pass of Thermopylae.

Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the enemy in one of the most famous last stands of history. Persian King Xerxes lead a Army of well over 100,000 (Persian king Xerxes before war has about 170,000 army) men to Greece and was confronted by 300 Spartans, 700 Thespians and other Slave soldiers.

Xerxes waited for 10 days for King Leonidas to surrender or withdraw left with no options he moved. The battle lasted for about 3 days and after which all 300 Spartans were killed.

The Spartan defeat was not the one expected as a local shepherd named Ephialtes defected to the Persians and informed Xerxes of a separate path through Thermopylae, which the Persians could use to outflank the Greeks.

Well thats the history lesson over! I had to copy that shit, from some sad bastard from IMDB!

Is it any good?

Yes! Gerard Butler is ace, the CGI could not be spotted anywhere. This may be because the movie looks grainy and gritty, but fuck me it worked!

I have always said since I watched Alexander that the Persians are the first `Chavs'.

That fucker `Xerxes' is no exception, probably worse. The man is covered from head to toe in Elizabeth Duke (Argos jewellry for our U.S. Friends).

He looks a right tosser. That fat chav who won the lottery could have played his part quite well!

But enough of this! The movie is excellent, acting is top class, there are naked women here and there, as you would expect, strange deformed soldiers (some with Spinabithia), and violence and comic book type gore a plenty.

Go and watch it or miss out.

Worth Watching ?
Definately, this is a great movie, I enjoyed this miles more than I expected.

Worth Owning on DVD ?
This is a must buy! If it it hits Blu-Ray or HD DVD the quality will be mesmerizing!

Our Rating:
4 out of 5.
