Movie Mad Review:
After dumping my car at the local garage for the MOT Test I trundled to Cineworld at Bolton Plex to catch the ne Nicholas Cage movie `Next'.
Las Vegas showroom magician Cris Johnson (Nicholas Cage) has a secret which torments him: he can see a few minutes into the future.
Sick of the examinations he underwent as a child and the interest of the government and medical establishment in his power, he lies low under an assumed name in Vegas, performing cheap tricks and living off small-time gambling "winnings."
But when a terrorist group threatens to detonate a nuclear device in Los Angeles, government agent Callie Ferris (Julianne Moore) must use all her wiles to capture Cris and convince him to help her stop the cataclysm.
This movie kind of crept up on me, which for me is quite unusual. Having seen the trailer I can't say I was excited, however!
As we all know, I am a massive Nic Cage fan, so I had to go and watch this!
Cage is the usual cool, laid back self as you would expect. What was a big surprise was the piss-poor Julianne Moore who I thought was aweful and really really got on my nerves as Mrs Angry the FBI agent.
Jessica Biel cruised in her role as the love interest, and she is quite damn hot! However in some bedroom scenes, she produces some magic of her own, by defying laws of gravity and managing to maneouvre around the bed without so much of a nipple slip!
The bed sheet did not flinch! Which is impossible as well as downright depressing!
Anyway, the acting is average, the story far-fetched and CGI is not the best! But it does its job and entertains, I never got bored!
But wait for the DVD, not worth the big screen experience!
